In the center of the old town of Chania, on Halidon street, next to the Catholic church is the Folklore Museum. It includes exhibits of folk art and tradition, which allow the visitor to get to know a representative image of the lifestyle of the island’s oldest inhabitants during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Among other things, the museum has a collection of tools, raw materials and products of traditional homemaking, handicrafts and rural life. There are also representations of agricultural occupations, domestic arts, handicrafts as well as representations of rural house interiors. The workshop of the museum is interesting, where the Cretan embroidery art is revived and embroidered paintings are created.
